How to Set Up Focus Mode & Block Reels on Kahf Guard (Android)
Turn on Kahf Guard Focus Mode to block Reels, Shorts and distracting apps on Android. A step-by-step setup with screenshots, permissions, and a video tutorial.
Endless feeds and constant notifications make staying focused hard. One pull away from your task, and finding your way back into deep focus takes far longer than the interruption itself.
Kahf Guard’s Focus Mode gives you a customizable digital boundary — for students, professionals, and anyone building healthier habits. This guide shows you how to set it up on Android, from your first restriction to keeping it running for good.
What you'll need
- An Android phone or tablet
- The Kahf Guard app installed
- About 3 minutes
What Focus Mode controls
Focus Mode is a single hub for four kinds of boundary. Switch on what fits your distraction, leave the rest alone:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Social Media | Block Reels, Shorts and Status tabs without losing the whole app. |
| App Blocker | Block single apps or whole categories, now or on a schedule. |
| Website Blocker | Block specific sites in your browsers, permanently or on a timer. |
| Harm Blocker | Catch harmful keywords — adult, drug and gambling content — on screen. |
Step 1: Open Focus Mode and choose what to block
Open Kahf Guard and tap Focus Mode on the dashboard. Pick a tool — for short-form distraction, open Social Media. Toggle a restriction, such as Block Reels under Facebook, YouTube or Instagram. Flipping that first switch starts the guided setup.
Step 2: Grant background & notification access
Focus Mode needs to keep running quietly in the background to do its job. When prompted, allow two things:
- Background optimization — stops your phone’s battery saver from putting the app to sleep.
- Notifications — lets Kahf Guard tell you when something is blocked or a limit is reached.
Step 3: Review the privacy & accessibility notice
To block content the moment it appears, Focus Mode uses Android’s Accessibility service. Kahf Guard reads only what is on screen to make a blocking decision — no browsing history or app usage is collected or sent anywhere. Read the notice and tap I understand and grant permission.
Step 4: Turn on Kahf Guard in Accessibility settings
The button takes you to your phone’s Accessibility settings. Finish the switch here:
- Find Kahf Guard Protections in the list.
- Switch on Use Kahf Guard Protections.
- On the system pop-up, tap Allow to confirm.
Step 5: Whitelist Kahf Guard
One last safeguard. Many phones ship with a battery saver or “cleaner” that closes background apps to save power — and that can switch Focus Mode off without warning.
With Focus Mode active, you decide what reaches your screen and when. Block the noise, protect your attention, and give your day back to what matters — your work, your studies, and your deen.
Frequently asked questions
Does Focus Mode block the whole app or just Reels?
Your choice. You can block only Reels and Shorts inside an app, or block the entire app. Each platform toggles independently.
Why does Focus Mode need Accessibility permission?
To detect when a blocked feature is on screen. Kahf Guard reads UI labels only — it does not collect your messages, browsing, or app usage data.
Focus Mode stops working after a while — why?
A battery saver or phone cleaner is closing the app in the background. Whitelist Kahf Guard in that app to keep Focus Mode running.
Can I schedule Focus Mode for work or study hours?
Yes. Inside App Blocker you can set schedules and daily time limits per app, so restrictions apply only during the hours you choose.
